Killol Patel, M.D.

Killol Patel, MD is an experienced fellowship trained physician who is board certified in both pulmonary and critical care medicine, who recently joined The Department of Medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. He specializes in diagnosis and treatment of various airway disorders as well as providing multiple modalities in diagnosis and management of lung cancer.

As a pulmonologist, Dr. Patel strives to develop a comprehensive lung nodule clinic at St. Barnabas Medical Center which would provide a multi-disciplinary evidence-based approach to patients requiring any diagnostic as well as treatment options in a timely fashion. He strongly believes that the process of choosing diagnostic or therapeutic modalities should be accomplished in a multi-disciplinary approach with the patient having a final say.

Prior to joining St Barnabas, Dr. Patel was director of Interventional Pulmonary at Englewood Hospital and helped them develop their lung cancer and advanced airway disease program. He also played an integral part in setting up the pulmonary hypertension program over there. Over there he was chosen as best teaching attending of the year for his didactic services in the internal medicine residency program.

Dr. Patel finished medical school at BVP Medical College in India and later joined Newark Beth Israel to finish his residency where he was chosen to serve as a fourth-year chief resident. He later went ahead to finish his fellowship at Newark Beth Israel in pulmonary & critical care. He was an outstanding fellow and was chosen as fellow of the year two years in a row.

Dr. Patel is interested in interventional pulmonary procedures for diagnosing and treating both malignant and benign pulmonary disease including advanced airway disease, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis and advanced lung disease.
